| Born in Plymouth, England, Nicholas Mathew Condy was a student of his father, who was also named Nicholas. There has been ongoing confusion when attempting to separate and formally identify their works. Unlike his father, however, the younger Condy usually portrayed his ships and yachts at sea without showing any land in his backgrounds. He is known to have served in the British Army for a brief period before joining his father as a marine painter. He died at the relatively young age of 33 before he could fully develop his considerable talent. |
