Caleb Whitbeck is San Franciso Bayís premier marine artist, has been drawing and painting ships and the sea for more than 40 years. He is a sailor and Signature and Founding Member of the American Society of Marine Artists. His paintings, watercolors, and prints are in many public and private collections across the country. He was recently listed in The Smithsonian American Art Museum as an important American nautical artist. He has had two one-man shows and has shown in 25 group shows including the Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaportís Annual International Marine Art Exhibition where he won the David Thimgan Award in 2007. Originally from Reno, Nevada, Whitbeck moved to California during the Second World War. He spent a year at the University of California, Davis campus before serving in the Army in Japan and Korea in 1950. He attended the Academy of Art University upon discharge from the service and graduated in 1958.
