David Thimgan (1955-2003)
Return to Collection  :: Return to Harbor Views

David Thimgan was an artist-historian specializing primarily in California maritime subjects. He was widely considered one of the foremost experts on west coast shipbuilding during the 19th century and of the small harbors along the Northern California coast. His paintings are historically accurate due to the great lengths he took to achieve realism and authenticity which included generating computer models of his subject vessels. A California native born in San Bernardino, David Thimgan’s paintings are considered exceptional for their unerring accuracy and striking beauty.
