Carlo Chelli (1890 fl.)
Return to Collection  :: Return to Maritime Portraits

The Italian artist and sculptor Carlo Chelli (1807-1877) was primarily a memorial sculptor. This painting is a rare example of his portraiture. Chelli trained in Rome with Carlo Finelli (1782-1853) and in the mid 18th century was active in and around Bologna, before returning to Rome in 1857.
