Martyn Mackrill is a native of the Isle of Wight and comes from two generations of seafarers. A graduate of the Portsmouth College of Art, Mackrillís specialty is yacht portraiture and racing scenes. His accuracy in depicting classic yachts comes from his first hand experience as a sailor combined with extensive historical research. Accomplished in both oil and watercolor, his work shows the inspiration of British marine painters William Wylie and Charles Dixon. Mackrill continues the long tradition of British marine painting and is presently Honorary Marine Painter to the Royal Thames Yacht Club.
