William Edgar (1870 -1925 c.)

William Edgar was born in Australia and developed a reputation in Sydney as an accomplished ship portraitist. He worked with Samuel L. Hoodís Adelaide Photo Company and Walkerís photo studio creating precise ship portraits from photographs. In the 1870ís he spent time painting ship portraits in Honolulu before eventually immigrating to America and settling in San Francisco where he produced the majority of his work
