Return to Collection  :: Return to Artist List

The Roux family of Mediterranean port painters was made up of no less than six important marine artists who were all born in the French seaport of Marseille. The second son of sea painter Antoine Roux, Frederic, was the third generation of this important dynasty of sea painters and considered a master watercolorist. He was highly favored by visiting American captains, and his works include numerous portraits of American vessels.
